Golson & McCracken will be in attendance at the Winston Salem VA Stand Down on April 11, 2014.

The original Stand Down for homeless Veterans was modeled after the Stand Down concept that provided a safe retreat for units returning from combat during the Vietnam War. These Stand Downs were held at secure base camps to allow soldiers to get a shower, clean uniforms, medical attention, and their mail. In this safe environment the battle weary soldier could renew their spirit and health.

VA Stand Downs are currently held at various cities across the country to honor and assist Veterans who are experiencing housing and other financial crises. They can connect with a wide range of services and fellowship with other Veterans. They can enjoy a hot meal, access multiple agencies, get a hair cut, free clothing, toiletries, and hot showers all day.

Golson & McCracken was privileged to attend Veteran Stand Downs in Durham, Goldsboro, and Raleigh, NC in 2013. We look forward to attending many of these events in the coming years. There are almost always opportunities for those who would like to make a contribution or volunteer their time.
