How does obesity affect a Social Security Disability claim?

Social Security recognizes that obesity can complicate and exacerbate many chronic medical conditions. It will be considered in combination with health conditions such as heart disease, arthritis and other conditions affecting the back and joints, lung diseases like COPD and asthma, symptomatic diabetes, and many other ailments if it causes a greater degree of limitation than would exist in the absence of obesity.
