Get Started TodayCan I get Social Security Disability benefits due to vision problems?
Social Security will award disability benefits to individuals who meet the definition of legal blindness (best corrected vision of 20/200 in the better eye, or with visual field of 20 degrees of less even with corrective lenses). Even if you do not meet the legal definition of blindness, you may still be eligible for benefits if your vision problems alone or in combination with other medical problems prevent you from working, and cannot be corrected by surgery or corrective lenses. The key to the finding of disability is that the vision cannot be corrected with appropriate treatment.
If you have questions regarding vision problems and Social Security Disability, please call Golson & McCracken for a free confidential case evaluation.
